All those waiting for OnePlus’ next big flagship, the wait is over. The Chinese smartphone brand is all set to launch its new flagship smartphone OnePlus 5T at an event in New York at 9.30 PM (India time). The launch event will be livestreamed on the company’s website. The global unveiling event will also be streamed live at several theatres across India. The company has tied up with select PVR cinema halls for this. OnePlus fans can watch the launch event live at these cinema halls in India. The tickets for the same are available on BookMyShow and are priced at Rs 99.

OnePlus 5T price in India

OnePlus 5T is expected to be priced same as OnePlus 5. The company’s CEO and co-founder Pete Lau though didn’t reveal the smartphone’s pricing. He did hint that it wil be priced below $600. While replying to a post on Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo, Lau said that the handset will be priced under CNY 4,000 (approximately $600). In a tweet later, he said, he said “Cost of smartphone components is rising, but phones are also getting better. OnePlus users will appreciate what’s coming.” This made analysts speculate that the upcoming smartphone’s pricing may breach Rs 40,000 mark.

OnePlus 5T specifications

OnePlus has been teasing the upcoming flagship smartphone on its social media channels for months now. The company has even confirmed some of its features. Some weeks ago, CEO Lau confirmed the handset’s name. Another feature confirmed by the company is the presence of 3.5mm headphone jack. This will make OnePlus 5T among the few flagship smartphones that sport headphone jack. The latest genertaion iPhones and well as Pixel smartphones come sans the headphone jack. OnePlus has also confirmed that its new smartphone will not feature wireless charging. This means OnePlus 5T will come with the company’s Dash Charging facility. In a forum post recently, Lau talked about why the company plans to go ahead with its Dash Charge instead of wireless charging.

“I saw some people talk about wireless charging after my headphone jack post, and wanted to add some thoughts into the conversation. Wireless charging is an exciting concept that’s matured a lot over the last few years. But given the current state of this technology, Dash Charge is still the superior choice,” he said. He added that “wired quick charging solutions like ours clearly outshine wireless on quantitative measures.” He claimed that with Dash Charge technology, users don’t need to worry about keeping the handset on the wireless charging pad in the best position every time. Also, the tech delivers 20 watts of power while even the majority of the good charging pads give out 15 watts of power.

OnePlus 5T is likely to run on Qualcomm’s current-generation flagship processor Snapdragon 835 clocked at up to 2.45GHz. The smartphone is said to come is 6GB and 8GB RAM options. On the camera front, OnePlus 5T is said to sport dual camera set up at the back, one 20-megapixel and another 16-megapixel sensor. On the front too, the smartphone will have a 16-megapixel camera. The smartphone is also reported to come with bigger battery than the company’s OnePlus 5 smartphone.

Design

The overall design of the OnePlus 5T is speculated to be same as that of OnePlus 5. Here, the design of the company’s OnePlus 3T smartphone, which launched in December 2016, too same as that of OnePlus 3 launched in June that year.

One of the major highlights of OnePlus 5T is speculated to be its extended display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Though the company has not yet confirmed this feature, however, it has strongly been teasing the display in its social media posts. “A new View’, followed by launch details,” goes one of the posts.

To launch on November 21 in India

Like all previous variants of OnePlus launched in India, this smartphone too is expected to be an Amazon exclusive in India. Along with this, the smartphone will also be sold via OnePlusstore.in website. In fact, last year, Flipkart and Amazon were embroiled in social media war after some units of OnePlus 5 smartphones appeared on the Flipkart marketplace for sale.

To launch selectively on November 21 in India

Prime users will get early access to buy the OnePlus 5T smartphone on November 21 in India. The ‘early access sales’ will start at 16.30 hours IST. The units are expected to be limited during this time. The actual sales for the smartphone will start from November 28 onwards.

As noted earlier, OnePlus 5T event will start at 9.30PM India time. Some people, who have bought a Rs 99 ticket for it, will be able to watch the OnePlus 5T even in a cinema hall.
